Fitted Kitchens in Nairobi: Templated On Site, Made in Our Workshop
from KES 12,000 / running ft
We template on the wall, not on the drawing
Almost every complaint about a Kenyan fitted kitchen traces back to one shortcut: carcasses cut from the architect’s drawing rather than measured against the wall that was actually built.
Walls are rarely square. In the older stone houses across Karen, Muthaiga and Lavington they are comfortably out by twenty or thirty millimetres across a run, and in a new apartment the plaster thickness alone will move a dimension. A run of units cut to a drawing arrives, does not fit, and gets forced: which is why the doors never quite line up afterwards.
We measure on site after plastering, and we build to those numbers.
How a kitchen is priced
Kenyan fitted joinery is priced per running foot: the horizontal length of the run, floor and wall units counted together. Publishing that unit matters, because most Kenyan quotes give a figure without one and you cannot compare two of them.
| Specification | Per running foot |
|---|---|
| Blockboard carcass, laminate fronts | KES 12,000 – 16,000 |
| Marine plywood carcass, MDF fronts | KES 16,000 – 22,000 |
| Solid wood or high-gloss acrylic fronts | KES 22,000 – 28,000+ |
An apartment kitchen is typically 10–14 running feet; a family house kitchen 18–26. So a mid-spec family kitchen usually lands between KES 290,000 and 570,000.
What we do
- Survey and template on site, after plastering
- Layout design: galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, island or peninsula, tested against your actual room
- Carcasses and fronts made in our workshop
- Delivery, installation and levelling
- Worktop templating after units are set and levelled, never before
- Handles, soft-close hardware, plinths and end panels
Sequencing, because it is where kitchens go wrong
First-fix plumbing and electrical positions are agreed before carcasses are made, not after. Worktops are templated once units are in and level. Appliances are confirmed by model, because a 600mm gap is not a 600mm appliance once you allow for the door.
Getting that order right is most of the job.
